You can do it yourself: scarves and cowls

Hello, and welcome to this week's edition of the You Can Do-It-Yourself series. If you haven't heard about this series I'm featuring in the blog in 2017, you can read all about it here

As a general rule, I don't like the winter months, especially when I have to endure rain and cold at the same time. Or, more accurately, I wouldn't mind those winter days if I could just stay at home and watch the rain from the inside of a warm, cozy living room. Since that's not possible, winter is just not my thing and by now I'm already counting the days until spring.  But the truth is that winter is just just a little over halfway through, so there's still time for a lot of winter crafts.

Scarfs and cowls are the perfect winter craft and it's so easy to make your own that this is definitely one thing you should not need to buy. Besides, DIY scarves are perfect homemade gifts too...

So, I have chosen several DIY tutorials which come with detailed instructions, using different materials so that you can choose your favorite. And there are no sew alternatives included too.

And while we're at it, you may also want to check the crochet cowl I posted here on the blog a while ago:

The purpose of the You Can Do-It-Yourself series is to share wonderful projects every week in 2017 and show you that there are lots of things that we are used to buying but than can be perfectly made by us. All links posted will obviously be DIY tutorials with clear instructions and/or free patterns, so that everyone can easily replicate them.

I've created a specific page for the series, which will include links to the crafts already covered. If you have suggestions for any of the topics, feel free to leave me a comment or send me an e-mail and I will try to include your ideas as much as possible (with proper credit).
And if you actually make some of these projects (which I hope you do), please share with me photos or links and I will be very happy to post them here too!

Happy Thursday,

  1. LOVE scarves. These are great ideas. I took parts of old sweaters and repurposed them into scarves sewn onto different fabrics last year. So fun!
