(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - spring sunsets

Now that spring is here, we're having some pretty amazing sunsets again.

They bring the promise of longer, sunny days and warm, peaceful nights, and after being locked up in the office all day, I do love to see them when I come home!

Happy Wednesday,

The Spring Bag - with tutorial

Spring is one of my favorite seasons and this year I decided that I needed a new bag to celebrate it! I'd been toying with a pattern for a while, wanting it to be cute, but at the same time functional and really easy to make.

Well, I'm finally ready to reveal my new 2016 Spring Bag!

The Spring Bag - with tutorial

This is the perfect bag for spring weekends spent at the park (or at the beach). It easily carries my wallet, cell phone and keys, and still has enough room to add the book I'm currently reading or my latest crochet project.

I made a small tutorial, in case anyone wants to replicate the process. It's not very detailed, so if you're trying to make the bag and have any questions, just leave me a comment or send me an e-mail.

Check it out below!

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday - at the museum

Last weekend we went to the museum. More specifically, to the Carris Museum, that houses the old trams and buses that used to circulated in Lisbon.

visit to the Carris Museum (old buses and trams in Lisbon)

Carris is the company that manages the Lisbon trams and buses still today, and they have created a wonderful display that begins with the first trams that were used as public transportation in the city (horse pulled) to the most modern ones (and also includes old documents, tickets, models, etc, a rather interesting collection through which the history of the company - and, in a way, of Lisbon - is told).

visit to the Carris Museum (old buses and trams in Lisbon)

All vehicles are open, so you can step inside and have a look, sit down and even tweak the controls. And the cherry on top of the cake was that we got to ride a real tram, from the early 20th century! Just the four of us and the driver.

visit to the Carris Museum (old buses and trams in Lisbon)

The museum is divided between three different buildings, and to go from one building to another you take the tram. My son, who's been fascinated my anything with wheels since he was born, really loved this.

The Carris Museum is (sadly) a bit off the beaten path in relation to the more well-known tourist attractions, but if you ever visit Lisbon, I totally recommend it. You can find more info here (web page is available in English and Portuguese).

Not very wordless today, by happy Wednesday in any case!

Felt Easter Bunnies - Tutorial & Pattern

This year I've been too busy to tackle a lot of Eater projects, but because I always like to have something handmade for my kids on Easter Sunday, I decided to make some felt bunnies.

They are a cute gift, but they also make a great Easter decor, and if I have time I may try to make a few more to spread around the house.

If you want to make one too, check the tutorial below:

5 Easy & Pretty Embroidery Projects

The ABC Crafts Series: E is for...Embroidery!

Welcome to another edition of the ABC Crafts Series. After last week's St. Patrick's Day special (missed it? find it here) we're back on track with letter E, this time to share some pretty cute embroidery designs.

easy embroidery projects

Embroidery is a tricky craft, in my opinion. While the individual stitches are easy enough (most of them, at least), most projects require an amount of time and a level of concentration that I usually never manage to have available. This is why, though there are some pretty amazing ideas out there, I decided to pick for this roundup just easy embroidery designs that can be made in a day (or in a couple of hours, if you're lucky). All of them have free patterns available for download.

An in case you've never done this before or don't feel enough confidence to tackle any of these without help, I also added, at the bottom of this post, links to a comprehensive list of embroidery stitches (with clear image tutorials) and a link to a video presenting you several alternative ways to transfer embroidery patterns from paper to fabric.

Check out this week's lovely embroidery designs below and pick your favorite!
